Dear Loved Ones!
By the time you read this we will either be on the way to Burning Man, getting married on the playa… or already hitched!
So we wanted to take a moment to express to you that though we are saddened that many of you will not be able to join us in the Black Rock Desert for our ceremony, you will still be with us in our minds and hearts when we wed on September 4th.
The playa has a special meaning for us and thus we felt it was where our spiritual union should take place. And we are also aware that it was a big request to ask our friends and family to join us there for our wedding, and we truly understand why many of you cannot be a part it – the Burning Man experience is definitely not for everyone.
But since our initial wedding announcement last year, many of you have expressed sincere disappointment that you could not be a part of our Burning Man celebration, and asked us if we planned on having another event in San Francisco so that they could celebrate with us. And to be honest, at first we had no plans for that at all.
Yet as the requests continued over several months we started to think about how we might be able to extend our celebration and include our greater community, as we consider our community of friends a part of our family, and wanted to include as many of you as possible.
Thus in the tradition of our non-traditional ways, we decided to host a wedding reception that we thought would appeal to all – in the beautiful Stern Grove of our amazing San Francisco, on one of the most festive occasions of our dear city – Halloween! And we are doing our very best to create an event that is super fun while also low-budget. But even with that intention and mindfulness we have come to realize that it is still unaffordable and out-of-reach for our new family, and we cannot do this without your help and support.
So if you are inspired to give us a wedding gift (and only if you are inspired!), we kindly request that instead of a traditional gift, you please make a gift contribution to our event so that we can create one of the most fun and memorable parties you have ever been to (that only happens to be a wedding celebration!!!).
Until now we have opted out of all the traditional wedding fare: We have not thrown any engagement party, bachelor party, bachelorette party, bridal shower, pre-wedding dinners or brunches, and we are not going on a honeymoon. Plus we already own all the material goods that we need, and we need nothing more.
So all we really want is to create an amazingly good time for all on one of the most festive holidays of the year. And if you take a look at the list of our gift registry on the Honeyfund site (there is a link button above, as well as at the bottom of this page), you will see that we dream of manifesting a very playful day and evening for all the children in our community, as well as for the big kid that still lives in all of us!
We thank you from the bottom of our family’s heart for reading this letter, for considering our request and for making a contribution if at all possible!
With our love and gratitude,
Patrick, Tina + Xavi
